Manufacturing solutions for unique AR/VR optics
Immersive technologies like Augmented and Virtual Reality are considered by many companies across the industries as the next big innovation with the potential to impact multiple activities like workforce training, product design exploration, surgical procedures, gaming, …
Whereas previous generations of wearable AR/VR devices were bulky, visually unappealing and had poor imaging performances, the same is not true of the next generation. The revolution comes about through the use of new projection systems for improved brightness, resolution and field of view, while components have been miniaturized enough to incorporate into stylish glasses.
As a key enabler for AR/VR devices, optics are becoming more complex, and their production require beyond State-of-the-Art manufacturing constraints, for example in terms of miniaturization, achievable geometries or obtainable birefringence levels. By developing specific manufacturing processes, Wielandts UPMT provides solutions to replicate or prototype optical elements with such extreme requirements, like pancake lenses, laser beam scanner optics, freeform lens arrays, etc.
