Metal mirrors are widely used in space instruments for earth observation. Thanks to highly efficient and accurate ultraprecision machining processes, these mirrors can be manufactured without requiring any post process polishing while integrated using highly accurate mechanical features.
Space mirrors shapes can vary from flat scan mirrors to off axis spheres or aspheres or even freeform. By integrating mounting and positioning features machined in one single setup, it is also possible to ensure perfect and easy alignment of all components when integrated into the final system.
Thanks to its highly qualified and experienced employees, Wielandts UPMT has an important heritage related to space industry, working on multiple missions as subcontractor for optics and high precision mechanical parts.
